One More Year Gone!

One More Year Gone!

A birthday is the anniversary of the birth of a person, or figuratively
of an institution as per Wikipedia. However, I want to talk about the
birthday of a person, an individual where it’s a day of celebration,
parties, cakes and fun.

We all celebrate our birthday with so much of joy and fun, people wait
for this day and being excited about the day, plan and decide about it.
So, a day comes and the phone is full of birthday wishes, friends who
have not been in touch with you for full year, a message for them makes
you feel good that see they still care for you and remember you. The
most exciting part is at 12AM, you wait to see who the first person to
wish you . Excitement and happiness doubles when your special one or
your love calls you exact at the entry of your new day. Most of the
people see that either their family are ready with the cake dot at 12’AM
or even their friends are at the doorstep with the cake and making the
Birthday special and memorable one. This is the one day when you are
special not only in your family, friends but at work within your
colleagues and so on. And yes, why not you should be special as it’s
your day and you came to this world and are enjoying every day of it.

However, there are “n” number of people who do not Celebrate this day as
you do. Few like to keep it as usual day and don’t care about it, some
people feel nostalgic and want to just be with themselves and have their
own space and avoid getting disturbed or they just go away from the
hustle and bustle and want to feel the Solitude and immerse in it, to
retrospect what they have done all these past years or that year which
just passed.

Well, I am also one of them who likes to Retrospect about my life, the
year which just passed away and I lost one more year of my precious
life, what did I do or achieved in it. People pray and turn to Almighty
for the best wishes and blessings. I also do, turn to Almighty and ask
for forgiveness and mercy, for what may have gone wrong by me, or I may
have hurt someone, or made someone unhappy. There are so many things on
this day people like me do, they want to make coming years good and
being blessed to do better. Few of my friends, on this special spend
time with Orphans and in Old Age Homes, because they want to give back.
Spending time with Orphans give them pleasure as they share their
special day with them and make best of it.

There are children and people in this world who don’t know what birthday
means, and if they do, there is no one around them to celebrate it. We
should think of them, celebrate with them, eat and exchange gifts with
them and pray along with them, you never know where their prayers will
take you, to the places where you never had thought off, just because of
the blessings.

I am not saying that do not celebrate your birthday, what I am saying is
celebrate it with some meaning. Look back at your Year gone by and do
some thinking and see what you have achieved and lost. Show gratitude to
Almighty, for keeping you healthy and giving you what you asked for and
expected. This is the day of self-realisation and being grateful and
thanking that Super-Power for giving you life and making it beautiful.

Yes, birthday is an anniversary to celebrate and have fun but at the
same time we need to be mindful and grateful.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.
Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other
people’s thinking.” – Steve Jobs
