Education System in India
Education is the most important element for all the societies, it is
very crucial that every country provides best education to their young
students and on top of that is affordable, so that all can get it rather
than just few who can afford.
Indian young brains move out to other countries for higher education,
like masters, doctorate, etc. and mainly they go to UK, Europe, America,
Canada, Australia etc. However, Russia/Ukraine war has opened the
pandora box in respect to Indian Education System. Why are so many
Indian students studying in Ukraine? Or elsewhere? Are they not getting
the quality education here in their own country, or is there any other
reason? Honestly, I was shocked to see the pictures and videos of these
students in thousands trying to come out of various cities of Ukraine
and thinking so many of our young brains are outside.
The question comes now, why do we see so many young bright brains
running out of India for their education? I got answer from one of my
friends when I asked this question, and he was right saying, firstly,
it’s so expensive to study in a good college in India and in certain
specific streams the cut-off for getting admission is so high that
normal average student cannot get into it, even if he/she wants to.
Secondly, the education system in India is flawed and most of the
curriculum is totally outdated, right this is surprising, and I don’t
know what our department of education is doing about it or are they even
aware if this and thinking of fixing it. There are “n” number of private
colleges and universities in India and providing various degrees in
medicine, management, engineering and what not. But are they doing
justice to these students, because its clear the students who are not
able to get into these premium colleges where the cut-off is so high,
they opt for these private colleges and then also it becomes evident how
much they will be paying fee to get into these institutions, why I smell
corruption at the high scale? What is the Government doing to keep check
on these private intuitions or are they one of the areas for rich
politicians and businesspeople to make their black money white? Think?
Also, do these institutions provide quality education to the students so
that they see their future bright. Because these students want to see
their future in big Corporates, Hospitals, etc. they want to see their
future growth with right education in the stream they are studying and
specializing in. Students and all young people want to see best they can
do with good and respectful living. Recently, we saw that how young
students were protesting in Bihar and UP related to their exams for
Government Jobs. As per them they prepare for these competitive exams
for years, living away from their families and at the end when exam time
comes the papers are “Leaked”, and they can’t appear for the so-called
exam and are left in uncertainty and confusion. And we have seen
devastating results of this, anxiety, depression, suicides, and
dejection from life. There are no jobs at all, youth is struggling to
survive, they are clueless what to do with their future and where to go.
So, parents who can afford to send their children outside India to study
and make their future they do, and poor cannot do it, so they are left
struggling on the streets and keep applying for Government jobs which is
Zero. Only rich and upper middle-class Indians who can afford premium
institutions and Universities in India get the best education and rest
who can afford go out of India as they have hope, rest fall in cracks.
Now, back to my question where our Education System is heading to, is
our government aware of this disaster, do they know there is major
system flaw and needs to be fixed. There is so much of bias in the
society in respect to who gets better education who will not, are they
aware, they are aware, but no one is doing anything. Let they system run
as it is, why to bother and who is suffering, yes, our youngsters, out
youth, our bright shining Minds who are actual future of our country
which will make us powerful in the world. If our youth is not educated
well and is doing constructive job and work, then not only their future
is dark but at the same time our Country headed to dark future.
Finally, my perspective on our education system is that our society
needs to do a deep and serious thinking, Parents and Educationists need
to come together and work on making our colleges and universities
affordable to all. There should be no Cut-Offs in 99% and more, be
reasonable. All cannot go out of country for studies, and who are
leaving are going because of not getting good college in India.
Government of India must make new policies and have better strategy to
make sure all students get latest and best education here, so that we
stop Brain Drain from India.
The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to
think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true
education. – Martin Luther King, Jr.
